Problem

Stone A is dropped from the top of a 60 m60\,\text{m} high cliff. One second later, stone B is thrown vertically downward from the same point so that both stones reach the ground simultaneously. Neglect air resistance and take g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^2. (a) If stone A takes t st\,\text{s} to reach the ground from the moment it is released, express the time of flight of stone B in terms of tt. (b) Calculate the initial speed with which stone B must be thrown downward so that both stones hit the ground together. (c) Find the distance between the two stones 0.5 s0.5\,\text{s} after B is released.
