Problem

Let S={xx,xy,yx,yy}S=\{xx,xy,yx,yy\} be the set of all 22-letter strings formed from the alphabet {x,y}\{x,y\}. A relation RR on SS is given by R={(xx,xx),(xy,xy),(yx,yx),(yy,yy),(xx,xy),(xy,xx),(yx,yy)}.R=\{(xx,xx),(xy,xy),(yx,yx),(yy,yy),(xx,xy),(xy,xx),(yx,yy)\}. Answer the following questions, giving reasons in each case. (i) Is RR reflexive on SS? (ii) Is RR symmetric on SS? (iii) Is RR transitive on SS? (iv) Suggest a single ordered pair whose addition to or deletion from RR would convert it into an equivalence relation on SS, and justify your choice.
