Problem

A wooden ramp is used to load cartons onto a warehouse platform. The platform is 1.2 m1.2\,\text{m} high, and the ramp meets the ground making an angle of 25∘25^\circ with the horizontal. (i) Determine the length of the ramp required. (ii) A vertical support is fixed from the midpoint of the ramp straight down to the ground. Calculate the length of this support. (iii) The ramp is later adjusted so that it now makes an angle of 30∘30^\circ with the ground, while its lower end remains at the same point. Compute the new height of the platform that can be served by the ramp.
