Problem

Four solid blocks have identical external dimensions but are made of different materials. Their masses are: Block P (wood) – 750 g, Block Q (plastic) – 400 g, Block R (aluminium) – 2.7 kg, and Block S (iron) – 6.2 kg. (i) Arrange the four blocks in ascending order of their inertia. (ii) Give a reason for your arrangement with reference to the physical property that determines inertia. (iii) State Newton’s First Law of Motion and explain how it supports the order you have given.
