Problem

An isolated capacitor carries a fixed charge QQ. For one capacitor a dielectric with κ=5\kappa = 5 fills the gap; for an otherwise identical capacitor a dielectric with κ=2\kappa = 2 fills the gap. The dielectrics are completely removed without allowing charge to flow off the plates. Calculate the ratio of the work required to remove the κ=5\kappa=5 slab to the work required to remove the κ=2\kappa=2 slab, W5/W2W_{5}/W_{2}.
