Problem

A smooth wedge makes an angle of 30∘30^{\circ} with the horizontal. A small block of mass 2 kg2\,\text{kg} is placed on the incline. The wedge is given a constant horizontal acceleration aa towards the right such that the normal reaction between the block and the wedge equals one-half of the weight of the block. Calculate aa. Use g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}.
