Problem

A copper rod and an aluminium rod, each of uniform cross-sectional area 1.5 mm21.5\,\text{mm}^2, are welded end-to-end to form a conductor of total length 1.0 m1.0\,\text{m}. The resistivities of copper and aluminium are 1.7×10−8 Ω m1.7\times10^{-8}\,\Omega\,\text{m} and 2.7×10−8 Ω m2.7\times10^{-8}\,\Omega\,\text{m} respectively. If the measured resistance of the combination is 0.015 Ω0.015\,\Omega, calculate the lengths of the copper section and the aluminium section.
