Problem
A student titrates 25.00 mL of 0.120 M HCl with 0.150 M NaOH.
After the equivalence point is reached, the student continues to deliver an additional 6.00 mL of the NaOH solution. Assume all solutions behave ideally and that volumes are additive.
(1) Calculate the volume (in mL) of NaOH that must be delivered to reach the equivalence point.
(2) Determine the concentration of OH⁻ in the reaction flask after the extra 6.00 mL of NaOH has been added.
(3) Calculate the pH of the solution after the extra NaOH is delivered.
(4) Without doing further numerical calculations, explain whether adding an additional 10.0 mL of the same NaOH solution beyond the amount in part (c) would produce a large, small, or negligible change in pH. Justify your answer qualitatively.
