Problem

A cyclist of mass 70 kg70\,\text{kg} rides at a steady speed of 8 m s−18\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} on a level road. The total resistive force opposing the motion is 60 N60\,\text{N}. (i) Calculate the power developed by the cyclist to maintain this speed. (ii) If the cyclist doubles the speed and the resistive force is directly proportional to the speed, determine the power now required.
