Problem

A conveyor belt in a factory moves cartons of goods along a horizontal path at a steady speed of 0.80 m s−10.80\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} by exerting a constant horizontal force of 150 N150\,\text{N} on each carton. (i) Starting from the definition of power, derive an expression for the power delivered to a body that moves with uniform velocity under a constant force acting along the direction of motion. (ii) Using your result of part (i), calculate the power needed to move one carton at the stated speed. (iii) If a carton remains on the belt for 12 s12\,\text{s}, determine the work done on that carton during this time.
