Problem

In a hydraulic jack, the small piston (area 6 cm26\,\text{cm}^2) is 0.25 m0.25\,\text{m} lower than the large piston (area 120 cm2120\,\text{cm}^2). The space between pistons is filled with oil of density 800 kg m−3800\,\text{kg m}^{-3}. Determine the minimum force that must be applied on the small piston to raise an 8 000 N8\,000\,\text{N} car resting on the large piston.
