Problem
A horizontal straight conductor carries a current of 6 A. At a point 3 cm directly below the conductor, the magnetic field strength is recorded as 12 µT.
(i) If the current is increased to 18 A while the point of observation remains at 3 cm, determine the new magnetic field strength.
(ii) Instead, keeping the current at 6 A, the point of observation is shifted to 6 cm below the conductor. Determine the magnetic field strength at the new position.
(iii) Finally, the current is increased to 18 A and the point of observation is simultaneously shifted to 6 cm below the conductor. Calculate the magnetic field strength in this situation and compare it with the original 12 µT value.
