Problem

Let z1z_1 and z2z_2 be roots of the equation z2+pz+q=0z^2 + pz + q = 0 , where the coefficients pp and qq may be complex numbers. Let AA and BB represent z1z_1 and z2z_2 in the complex plane. If △AOB=η≠0 \triangle AOB = \eta \neq 0 and OA=OBOA = OB , where OO is the origin, prove that p2=4qcos⁡2(α/2)p^2 = 4q \cos^2(\alpha/2) .
