A sample of an ideal gas is taken from state A to state B by two different reversible paths:
Path 1: Isothermal expansion at temperature T.
Path 2: Adiabatic expansion.
Both paths start from the same state A and end at the same state B.
(i) Without using numerical values, explain which of the two processes does more work and justify your answer with suitable reasoning.
(ii) At an intermediate volume common to both paths, compare the pressures on the adiabatic and the isothermal curves and provide a justification based on thermodynamic principles.
(iii) Draw a qualitative P–V diagram showing both paths between A and B and clearly label them.
