Problem

Let g(x)=x4−4x3+6x2+1g(x)=x^{4}-4x^{3}+6x^{2}+1 be defined on the interval [−2,3][-2,3]. (i) Find the critical points of g(x)g(x) that lie in the interval. (ii) Classify every critical point found in part (i) as a point of local maximum or local minimum. (iii) Evaluate g(x)g(x) at all critical points and at the endpoints to decide the absolute maximum and absolute minimum values of g(x)g(x) on [−2,3][-2,3].
