Problem

A small vertical object 1.5 cm1.5\,\text{cm} high is placed on the principal axis of a spherical mirror whose radius of curvature is 40 cm40\,\text{cm}. The mirror forms an inverted image that is 3.0 cm3.0\,\text{cm} high on a screen. Work out the following: (i) Determine the focal length of the mirror and state whether the mirror is concave or convex. (ii) Calculate the object distance from the mirror. (iii) Find the distance of the image from the mirror and verify that your values satisfy the mirror equation. (iv) Draw a scaled ray diagram to support your numerical answers.
