A ball is projected vertically upward from ground level with an initial speed of 25m/s. Neglect air resistance. The ball rises until its velocity becomes zero, stays momentarily at the highest point, and then falls back.
Answer the questions given below. Take upward direction as positive and g=9.8m/s2.
(i) Determine the maximum height reached by the ball above the point of projection.
(ii) Calculate the total time the ball remains above the point of projection before beginning to fall back.
(iii) Find the velocity of the ball after it has been falling for 3.0s from the highest point.
(iv) Compute the displacement of the ball from the point of projection after the 3.0s fall.
(v) Sketch a velocity–time graph for the entire motion from projection to the end of the 3.0s fall, indicating the areas that represent the upward and downward displacements.
