Problem

Consider the exponential growth model P(t)=P0ektP(t)=P_0 e^{k t}, where P0P_0 is the initial amount and kk is a constant. Explain, with complete algebraic reasoning, how measurements of the population P(t1)P(t_1) at time t1t_1 and P(t2)P(t_2) at a later time t2t_2 allow determination of the constant kk without requiring knowledge of P0P_0. Derive an explicit formula for kk in terms of the two measured values and the time interval (t2−t1)(t_2-t_1).
