Problem

A straight wire that starts at x=0x=0 and extends to +∞+\infty carries a uniform linear charge density λ\lambda. A point charge qq is located on the wire’s axis at a distance dd from the nearer end of the wire. Derive an expression for the magnitude of the electrostatic force acting on the point charge in terms of λ\lambda, dd, and fundamental constants.
