Problem

Let CC be the circle x2+y2−2ax=0x^{2}+y^{2}-2ax=0 where a>0a>0. A point PP on CC can be described by the parameter θ\theta through the relations x=a(1+cos⁡θ),  y=asin⁡θ  (0<θ<2π)x=a(1+\cos\theta),\; y=a\sin\theta\;(0<\theta<2\pi). (i) Verify that every point PP obtained from the above relations satisfies the equation of CC. (ii) Find the slope of the tangent to CC at the general point PP in terms of θ\theta. (iii) Hence write down the slope and the equation of the normal at PP. (iv) For θ=π3\theta=\dfrac{\pi}{3}, find the coordinates of PP and obtain the explicit equations of the tangent and the normal at that point.
