Problem

A point moves with constant acceleration, aa, along the xx-axis. If it moves distances Δx1\Delta x_1 and Δx2\Delta x_2 in successive intervals of time Δt1\Delta t_1 and Δt2\Delta t_2, prove that the acceleration is a=2(v2−v1)/Ta = 2(v_2 - v_1)/T where v1=Δx1/Δt1v_1 = \Delta x_1/\Delta t_1, v2=Δx2/Δt2v_2 = \Delta x_2/\Delta t_2, and T=Δt1+Δt2T = \Delta t_1 + \Delta t_2.
