Problem

A student observes the following five motions taking place around her: (a) A ceiling fan running at a constant speed. (b) A potter’s wheel that slows down gradually while turning in a circle. (c) A child on a swing moving to and fro along an arc. (d) A scooter negotiating a circular bend while its rider continuously increases the speed. (e) A train moving straight on a level track at a constant speed. For each motion listed above, state whether it is (i) uniform circular motion, (ii) non-uniform circular motion, or (iii) not a circular motion at all. Give one brief reason for every classification you make.
