Problem

Consider a series LCRLCR circuit connected to an alternating voltage source. (i) Explain why the circuit current reaches a maximum at a particular frequency even though the applied voltage amplitude is kept constant. (ii) Show that, at this frequency, the circuit impedance equals the resistance present in the series combination. (iii) Using your reasoning, discuss how the average power absorbed by the circuit depends on the resistance at this frequency.
