Problem

Two blocks, one of mass 5 kg5\,\text{kg} (Block A) and the other of mass 12 kg12\,\text{kg} (Block B), are weighed first on the Earth and then on the Moon. (a) Compute the weight of each block on the Earth. Take gearth=9.8 m/s2g_{\text{earth}} = 9.8\,\text{m/s}^2. (b) Compute the weight of each block on the Moon, where gmoon=1.6 m/s2g_{\text{moon}} = 1.6\,\text{m/s}^2. (c) For each location, find the difference in the weights of Block A and Block B. (d) Compare the differences obtained in part (c) and state which location shows the greater difference in weight between the two blocks. Give a reason for your answer based on the numerical values you have calculated.
