Problem

A laboratory power supply delivers a piece-wise constant current to a circuit. The current is 1.5 A1.5\,\text{A} for the first 3.0 s3.0\,\text{s}, then 0.80 A0.80\,\text{A} for the next 5.0 s5.0\,\text{s}, and finally 3.2 A3.2\,\text{A} for an additional 2.0 s2.0\,\text{s} before the supply is switched off. Answer the following questions. Show all steps clearly and include units with all numerical answers. (a) Determine the total charge that leaves the power supply during the entire 10.0 s10.0\,\text{s} operating interval. (b) Compute the average current delivered over the same interval and compare it to the largest constant segment of current listed above. (c) Suppose a separate capacitor initially uncharged is placed in series so that all charge from the supply flows into it. Describe what its final stored charge would be after the 10.0 s10.0\,\text{s} interval, and justify your answer.
