Problem

A stone is projected vertically downward with a velocity of 5 m/s5\,\text{m/s} from the edge of a cliff. After 4 s4\,\text{s} its speed becomes 45 m/s45\,\text{m/s}. Take the downward direction as positive. (i) Calculate the numerical value of the acceleration acting on the stone. (ii) Determine the displacement of the stone in the first 4 s4\,\text{s} of its motion. (iii) Find its velocity after 6 s6\,\text{s} from the instant it was projected.
