Problem

A solid has base on the interval 0≤x≤π0\le x\le \pi along the xx–axis. Above each xx in [0,π/2][0,\pi/2], the cross section perpendicular to the xx–axis is a square whose side length is sin⁡x\sin x. Above each xx in [π/2,π][\pi/2,\pi], the cross section is a rectangle whose base is sin⁡x\sin x and whose height is three times its base. What is the volume of the solid? (a) π2\dfrac{\pi}{2} (b) π\pi (c) π+124\dfrac{\pi+12}{4} (d) 3π4\dfrac{3\pi}{4}
