Problem
At two points P and Q located along the same straight line from a point charge in air, the electric field magnitudes are found to be in the ratio 4 : 1. Point Q is 0.20 m farther from the charge than point P.
(i) Express the given field ratio in terms of the distances of P and Q from the charge and hence obtain a relation between these distances.
(ii) Determine the numerical values of the distances of P and Q from the charge.
