Problem

A cylindrical vessel of cross-sectional area 0.050 m20.050\,\text{m}^2 contains water up to a height of 2.5 m2.5\,\text{m}. A small circular hole of radius 4 mm4\,\text{mm} is made at the bottom so that the water emerges vertically downward into a measuring can. (a) Calculate the speed with which the water leaves the hole at the instant the height of water is still 2.5 m2.5\,\text{m}. (b) Find the volume flow rate at that instant. (c) Assuming the height does not appreciably change in the first 12 s12\,\text{s}, estimate the volume of water collected in the can in this interval.
