Problem
A student owns a magnifying glass of focal length 5.0cm. During an experiment she tries two different positions of the lens relative to the object.
(i) Calculate the angular magnification when the lens is adjusted so that the final image is at infinity.
(ii) Calculate the angular magnification when the final image is at the near point (25cm).
(iii) Determine the percentage increase in magnification obtained in part (ii) over part (i).
(iv) Which adjustment would you recommend for reading a lengthy document and why?
