Problem

For a vertical stretch with scale factor pp, each point on the function is moved vertically so it is pp times as far from the xx-axis. (1) Using this definition of a vertical stretch, does it make sense to talk about negative values of pp? (2) If a function is transformed from f(x)f(x) to −f(x)-f(x), what transformation has actually occurred? (3) What *combinations* of transformations would transform f(x)f(x) to −2f(x)-2f(x)? (4) What can we say about y=f(qx)y = f(qx) for: - q=−1q = -1 - q<0,q≠−1q < 0, q \neq -1 ?
