Problem

A bus travels along a straight road in three successive stages of motion. (a) First, it accelerates uniformly from 15 m/s15\,\text{m/s} to 25 m/s25\,\text{m/s} in a time interval t1t_1. Next, it maintains the speed of 25 m/s25\,\text{m/s} for 60 s60\,\text{s}. Finally, it comes to rest with uniform retardation in the same time interval t1t_1 as in the acceleration phase. The total distance covered in the entire journey is 2000 m2000\,\text{m}. Calculate the value of t1t_1. (b) Determine the magnitude of the acceleration of the bus during the first stage. (c) Find the total time taken for the complete journey described above.
