Problem

While expanding (x+3)(x+5)\left(x+3\right)\left(x+5\right), the terms 5x5x and 3x3x are combined. Why is this combination valid? (a) They are coefficients of xx from the outer and inner products, so the coefficients can be added. (b) They are like terms having the same variable and the same power. (c) They are constant terms without variables. (d) They have opposite signs and therefore cancel out.
