Problem

Let Fa(x)=x3+axF_{a}(x)=x^{3}+ax, where aa is a real parameter. Answer the following: (i) Find Fa′(x)F_{a}'(x). (ii) Determine all real values of aa for which FaF_{a} has no local extremum on R\mathbb R. Give a complete justification based on the sign of Fa′(x)F_{a}'(x). (iii) Choose one value of aa for which FaF_{a} does possess local extrema. Locate these points and classify each as a local maximum or a local minimum.
