Problem

Two cells of emf E1=6 VE_1=6\text{ V} and E2=5 VE_2=5\text{ V} are joined in parallel with the same polarity on the same side, without any external load. If their internal resistances are r1=2Ωr_1=2\Omega and r2=3Ωr_2=3\Omega, respectively, then (a) Terminal potential difference across either cell is less than 5 V5\text{ V}. (b) Terminal potential difference across either cell is 5.6 V5.6\text{ V}. (c) Current through the cells is 0.2 A0.2\text{ A}. (d) Current through the cells is zero if E1=E2E_1=E_2.
