Problem

A battery-powered toy car is made to move on a circular track of radius 2.5 m2.5\,\text{m}. Starting from rest, its speed increases uniformly to 2.0 m/s2.0\,\text{m/s} in the first 8 s8\,\text{s} and thereafter remains constant at this value for the next 66 complete rounds. (a) Classify the nature of the car’s motion during the first 8 s8\,\text{s} and give a reason for your answer. (b) Once the car reaches the constant speed of 2.0 m/s2.0\,\text{m/s}, state whether its subsequent motion is uniform circular motion or not, giving a suitable justification. (c) Calculate the time taken by the car to complete one round after it attains the constant speed. (d) How much additional time will the car take to finish the stated 66 rounds at this constant speed? (e) Even during the constant-speed phase, the toy is said to be accelerating. Explain why and state the direction of the required net force acting on the car.
