Problem

A bag contains only ₹5 coins and ₹2 coins. The total value of the coins in the bag is ₹100. Let xx be the number of ₹5 coins and yy be the number of ₹2 coins. (i) Write the linear equation that relates xx and yy. (ii) Draw the graph of this equation on a suitably chosen Cartesian plane. (iii) On your graph mark the half-plane that represents all possible collections of coins whose value does not exceed ₹100. (iv) Using the graph, decide whether the collection represented by the point (12,20)(12,20) is possible. Give reason. (v) Find one more integral ordered pair different from (12,20)(12,20) that represents a possible collection of coins having exactly ₹100 and justify your choice with reference to the graph.
