Problem

A particle is projected horizontally with speed uu from the edge of a table of height hh above level ground. Another particle is dropped from rest from the same point at the same instant. Answer the following without assuming any particular numerical values. (i) Obtain an expression for the vertical displacement yy of the horizontally–projected particle after time tt. (ii) Show that both particles reach the ground simultaneously. (iii) Derive an expression for the horizontal distance travelled by the projected particle by the time it reaches the ground.
