Problem

Two identical insulating spheres, each of mass 2.0 g2.0\,\text{g}, are suspended so that their centers can be positioned 8.0 cm8.0\,\text{cm} apart. Sphere 1 initially carries +3.0×10−8 C+3.0\times10^{-8}\,\text{C} and Sphere 2 carries −5.0×10−8 C-5.0\times10^{-8}\,\text{C}. The spheres are briefly touched together, allowing charge to redistribute, and are then returned to the 8.0 cm8.0\,\text{cm} separation. Calculate the magnitude of the electrostatic force between the spheres after they are separated.
