Problem

Two long, parallel conductors PP and QQ are separated by 6 cm6\,\text{cm} in vacuum. Conductor PP carries a current of 10 A10\,\text{A} and conductor QQ carries a current of 15 A15\,\text{A} in the opposite direction. A uniform magnetic field of magnitude 5 μT5\,\mu\text{T} is superposed perpendicular to the plane of the conductors and directed into the page. (i) Along the straight line joining the two conductors, locate the point(s) where the resultant magnetic field is zero. (ii) State clearly on which side of the conductor carrying the larger current the null point lies and calculate its distance from that conductor.
