Problem

A newly discovered planet, Z-X, is found to have a radius of 4.0×106 m4.0\times10^{6}\,\text{m}. Sensitive instruments placed on its surface show that objects there experience an acceleration due to gravity of 12 m/s212\,\text{m/s}^2. (a) Calculate the mass of planet Z-X. (b) What would be the weight of a 60 kg60\,\text{kg} astronaut standing on the surface of Z-X? (c) Would the astronaut’s mass change on moving from Earth to Z-X? Explain briefly.
