Problem

A trolley in the physics lab is pulled up a smooth ramp to a platform. (i) The trolley has a mass of 15 kg15\,\text{kg} and reaches a point that is 1.2 m1.2\,\text{m} above the foot of the ramp. Calculate the gain in its potential energy. Use g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}. (ii) Another trolley of mass 10 kg10\,\text{kg} is to be given the same increase in potential energy as found in part (i). To what height must it be raised? (iii) State one assumption you have made while performing the above calculations.
