Problem

A filament lamp is marked 24 V, 150 mA. The lamp is connected across its rated supply for several hours. Attempt all parts: (a) Calculate the power consumed by the lamp when it is operated at its rated voltage and current. (b) Determine the electrical energy consumed if the lamp is kept ON for 5 h. Express your answer both in kWh and in joules. (c) By mistake the lamp is connected across a 12 V battery. Assuming that the resistance of the filament does not change, estimate the new current and the new power drawn by the lamp.
