Problem

Capacitors C1=2 μFC_1=2\,\mu\text{F} and C2=6 μFC_2=6\,\mu\text{F} are connected in parallel. This parallel combination is connected in series with a capacitor C3=4 μFC_3=4\,\mu\text{F} to an unknown ideal battery of emf EE. It is found that the magnitude of charge on capacitor C3C_3 is 48 μC48\,\mu\text{C}. (i) Calculate the potential difference across C3C_3. (ii) Determine the emf EE of the battery. (iii) Compute the charge stored on each of the capacitors C1C_1 and C2C_2."
