Problem

3. A ceiling fan is rotating uniformly at 300 rev min−1^{-1} when the electricity supply is switched off. The fan then comes to rest with a uniform angular retardation of 2.5 rad s−2^{-2}. (i) Determine the time taken by the fan to come to rest. (ii) Calculate the total number of revolutions made by the fan while coming to rest. (iii) The length of each fan blade (measured from the centre to the tip) is 0.60 m. Find the total linear distance travelled by the tip of a blade during the slowing-down interval.
