Problem

An ideal gas is initially at pressure 1.2×105 Pa1.2\times10^{5}\,\text{Pa} and volume 2.5×10−3 m32.5\times10^{-3}\,\text{m}^3. It is allowed to expand rapidly against a constant external pressure of 0.80×105 Pa0.80\times10^{5}\,\text{Pa} until its volume becomes 4.0×10−3 m34.0\times10^{-3}\,\text{m}^3. Calculate the work done by the gas in this process.
