Problem

A student weighs 720 N720\,\text{N} on Earth. He visits three other celestial bodies whose masses and radii, expressed as fractions of Earth’s values, are given below: • Moon: mass = 1100\frac{1}{100}, radius = 14\frac{1}{4} • Mars: mass = 110\frac{1}{10}, radius = 12\frac{1}{2} • Jupiter: mass = 318, radius = 11 (i) For each body, calculate the acceleration due to gravity on its surface as a fraction of the acceleration due to gravity on Earth. (ii) Determine the student’s weight on each of the three bodies. (iii) Arrange the four weights (Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter) in ascending order.
