Problem

A solid uniform cylinder of mass 2.0 kg2.0\,\text{kg} and radius 0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} starts from rest at point A, which is 1.5 m1.5\,\text{m} above a horizontal tabletop. It rolls without slipping down a track and leaves the edge of the table moving horizontally from a height of 0.80 m0.80\,\text{m} above the floor. Neglect air resistance. (a) Calculate the linear speed of the cylinder’s center of mass as it leaves the edge of the table. (b) Determine the time it takes for the cylinder to hit the floor after leaving the table. (c) Calculate the horizontal distance from the table’s edge to the point where the cylinder lands on the floor.
