Problem

For the gas-phase reaction 2SO2(g)+O2(g)⇌2SO3(g)2\text{SO}_2(g)+\text{O}_2(g) \rightleftharpoons 2\text{SO}_3(g) at 600 K, the concentrations in a flask are [SO2]=0.30 M[\text{SO}_2]=0.30\,\text{M}, [O2]=0.10 M[\text{O}_2]=0.10\,\text{M}, and [SO3]=0.40 M[\text{SO}_3]=0.40\,\text{M}. Calculate QcQ_c for the reaction as written, compare it to Kc=4.5K_c = 4.5, and state the direction in which the system will proceed (toward products, toward reactants, or no net change).
