Problem

Lines ll and mm are cut by a transversal tt at distinct points PP and QQ respectively. At PP, the acute angle on the upper–right side of tt is denoted as ∠1\angle 1. At QQ, the acute angle on the upper–right side of tt is denoted as ∠2\angle 2. Answer the questions given below. (i) Define the term “corresponding angles” when a transversal intersects two lines. (ii) If only the information ∠1=∠2\angle 1 = \angle 2 is provided, explain whether this single statement is sufficient to conclude that l∥ml \parallel m. Give complete reasons for your answer. (iii) State one additional condition (if any) that might be required when working with real diagrams to justify that two lines are parallel in such situations.
